Château-Musée de Chillon

The Magic of the Middle Ages

In order to get there on foot from Montreux, it will take you at least 20 minutes, but the walk in itself is magnificent and allows you to discover one of the most beautiful castles of the Middle Ages…Visiting the Château de Chillon allows us to immediately delve, as if by magic, into the history of the 12th to 16th centuries. Built on a rocky islet, and extended in the 13th century by Peter II of Savoy, this exceptional monument is all at once a fortified place beside the mountain and a princely residence beside the lake. Do not miss out on the visit to the famous prison whose story of Bonivard, prisoner from 1530 to 1536, inspired Lord Byron’s famous poem "The prisoner of Chillon" (1816)
